Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone or a budget brand? We compare the top tyre brands available through our mobile tyre fitting service across all vehicle types.
Choosing the right tyre brand is one of the most impactful decisions you can make for your car's safety and running costs. Premium tyres typically cost 30–60% more than budget alternatives — but in wet braking tests, the gap in stopping distance can be significant.
Premium Tyre Brands
Top premium brands we stock:
- Michelin: Consistently rated number one in independent tests. Exceptional wet and dry performance, outstanding longevity.
- Continental: Excellent all-round performance, particularly strong in wet braking. Factory-fit choice for many German manufacturers.
- Bridgestone: Top-tier performance and durability. Strong in high-speed stability categories.
- Pirelli: High-performance specialist. OE supplier for Ferrari, Lamborghini and many performance cars.
Mid-Range Brands Worth Considering
- Hankook: Korean manufacturer with strong test scores and excellent value-to-performance ratio.
- Falken: Good wet performance and decent longevity for the price.
- Kumho: Reliable everyday performance at accessible prices.
Budget Tyres
Budget brands like Rotalla, Landsail and Nankang offer significant cost savings. In normal, everyday driving conditions they perform acceptably — but independent tests consistently show longer wet stopping distances compared to premium brands. For urban driving at moderate speeds, the gap matters less. For higher-speed motorway driving, the performance difference is more material.
Our advice: choose premium or mid-range for front tyres (which handle steering and most braking) and consider mid-range or quality budget for rear tyres on non-performance cars.
